According to the NPD market research firm, “Delivery has become a need to have and no longer a nice to have in the restaurant industry,” and restaurants need delivery to gain and maintain market share. In fact, NPD found last year that 1 out of 4 US consumers ordered a meal via delivery in the past three months. It is now a consumer expectation.

If your restaurant already runs in-house delivery, the McKinsey management consulting firm advises that outsourcing logistics could be more cost-advantageous for restaurants. We would also add that the scale of DoorDash's fleet could better respond to an elastic demand.
