Some of Kansas City’s favorite things happen in the spring, like Royals games, cookouts, and Cinco de Mayo! Many people incorrectly believe that May 5 is a celebration of Mexican independence. In fact, this holiday commemorates the anniversary of the Battle of Puebla in 1862.
Unlike last year, Cinco de Mayo 2021 can once again be safely enjoyed with friends and family. However, some people are still hesitant to dine in and prefer the comfort of their own porches. We have put together a list of five favorite Kansas City Metro restaurants that offer online ordering for groups and individuals so that you can celebrate the holiday your way!
1. Mi Ranchito - 80th Metcalf OP, KS
Mi Ranchito is a KC favorite and has seven locations across Missouri and Kansas. They believe in serving only the freshest dishes, including favorites such as the chile verde burrito, molcajete volcano fajitas, and chorizo tacos. Try the Wednesday special, "La Costa Chimichanga," stuffed with grilled shrimp, pico de gallo, and Monterey Jack cheese.

2. Amigos Grill & Cantina - 47th Street KC, KS
If you’re looking for a family-friendly option boasting the best Mexican food in Kansas City, then check out Amigos Grill & Cantina. In addition to favorites such as the fajita burrito, they offer convenient family meal packs that feed up to six people, perfect for your Cinco de Mayo get-together.

3. La Fuente Mexican Restaurant - Lee’s Summit, MO
Cinco de Mayo wouldn’t be complete without margaritas! Visit La Fuente’s Douglas Street location online to order jumbo margaritas to go, as long as you’re 21 or older. Make sure to add some of their delicious classics to your order, such as their housemade guacamole or chicken nachos.

4. Margarita’s Amigos - Southwest Boulevard KC, MO
Margarita’s Amigos has five locations throughout the KC Metro area, and salsa so good they decided to bottle it! Visit their original Southwest Boulevard location online to order one of the house specialties, such as the carnitas, chimichanga, or "Sizzlin’ Fajitas."
5. Sancho Street Side - Johnson Drive Shawnee, KS
Sancho Street Side is a local food truck, restaurant, and caterer based in Shawnee, Kansas. Owner/chef Ryan Moody has taken a fresh and creative approach to authentic Latin street cuisine. Impress your Cinco guests by ordering a few of their unique appetizers like the "Street Corn Dip" or espinaca queso.

The best way to celebrate Cinco de Mayo is with lots of food, good company, and maybe a few margaritas. With so many fantastic options in Kansas City, it was difficult to narrow our list to just five.
