The Menufy family of departments has been growing for the last 13 years. During that time, we have been very lucky to add numerous talented and experienced associates to our team, including George Martinez.
George just celebrated his one-year Menufy anniversary this past August! He first served as a project coordinator, working to ensure that our restaurant clients' websites were active as soon as possible. Recently, George made a department jump, and he is now one of Menufy by HungerRush’s sales executives.
He is dedicated to helping his teammates and our restaurant clients, but George's great attitude and humble nature are what stand out the most, which is why he was nominated for this month's Associate Spotlight!
We recently spoke with George about his professional journey and his life outside of Menufy.
Meet George!
Take us on a tour of your professional journey before working with Menufy.
I worked in various restaurants throughout high school and college. I graduated from the University of Kansas in business with an emphasis in entrepreneurship. I worked in credit card processing for a company that worked with restaurants and stores. Working with restaurateurs prepared me to come to Menufy and better serve our clients.
How do your past experiences help you best serve our clients?
My background in credit card processing and entrepreneurship allows me to assist clients. Being bilingual has also given me a better understanding of the restaurant industry and a unique perspective on how best to help.
What is your favorite part of your current role?
My favorite part of being on the sales team at Menufy is the onboarding process. I enjoy speaking with clients and gathering ideas and information from all types of restaurants about how they handle obstacles. Covid fallout continues to be hard for restaurant owners, but seeing their tenacity to deliver convenience and connectivity to their customers is inspiring.
If you could switch Menufy departments for a day, which would you choose?
If I could switch departments for a day, I would choose to be on the design team. I like the brainstorming and combination of their artistic and digital talents. They mix all these skills together to make amazing websites.
What is your favorite restaurant in the area?
This is a very hard question because my favorite restaurants change with the seasons and weather. Being that it is fall and winter coming, finding a good tamale is essential for getting through the tough and harsh weather coming our way. Tarahumara Mexican Restaurant is very well-known for having among the best tamales in town.
When you aren't working, how do you spend your time?
In my free time, I like to go hiking, kayaking, and exploring nature. One of the few good things that came from the pandemic was the free time due to business closures—nature was there waiting to be appreciated. My outdoor adventuring is accompanied by good classical music and going to the Kansas City Symphony.
Tell us about your family and a secret talent!
I am recently married to my college sweetheart, and we have one Cavalier King Charles dog (Otto) and a cat (Mo). I also enjoy welding anything I get my hands on, that being MIG, TIG, and stick welding.
What do you love about Kansas City?
I like being around the best BBQ in the USA. The history museums, the Kauffman, the wineries near KC. The rich history, people, and great food make Kansas City home.
