Shale has been with Menufy for several years, and his deep understanding of the Menufy product line and the restaurant industry has been a great asset to the team.
He demonstrates constant professionalism and a calm demeanor in any situation. Shale's positive impact on customers and team members has earned him a nomination for this month's associate spotlight.
We chatted with Shale to learn more about his passion for customer support and his hobbies outside of work.
Meet Shale!
Tell us about your restaurant background.
I spent multiple years as a pizza delivery driver in Lawrence, Kansas, while I completed my studies in French and linguistics at KU.
How do your past experiences working in restaurants help you serve Menufy clients?
Working in restaurants has given me valuable insight into how our clients view their online ordering service(s) and how we can mitigate any issues they may encounter. Having experience in languages is an amazing tool that helps me engage with our diverse and multilingual client base on a more profound level. Even if I don't speak a given language, my experience has given me the tools to navigate language barriers professionally and let our clients know that we're listening and we care.
What is your favorite part of your role at our HungerRush organization?
I love being a support lead because it allows me to help both our clients and our team be the best that they can be on any given day. Being in a position to help others is one of the most meaningful ways we can make our world a better place, at work or otherwise, in my opinion.
If you could switch departments/roles for a day, which would you choose?
I would love to join the performance team for a day. The scope of the department is very large, and I think there is a lot of Menufy/HungerRush knowledge I could learn from them that would make me even better in my own role.
Which city do you call home, and what is the restaurant scene like?
I'm from Lawrence, Kansas! The restaurant scene in Lawrence has been run by mom-and-pop restaurants since before I was born; there are a slew of great restaurants with owners who are active and well-known in the community for their contributions to the city.
What is your favorite restaurant or dish?
Bogodak Chicken (formerly known as CM Chicken) is by far my favorite! CM Chicken was delivered to the office during my training in 2021, and I've been a fan ever since. Their Garlic Soy Tikkudak Chicken is 🔥🔥🔥!
After you clock out, how do you spend your free time?
I spend most of my free time gaming, watching anime, language learning, running, or spending time with family and friends.
Share one of your secret skills!
I've run a mile in 4:40 and a 5K in 16:40!
If you could only eat one thing for a whole year, what would it be?
Pizza! You get all the food groups in one meal, and there's so much variety that I could go on forever without getting tired of it.
